Immediate withdrawal of a driving licence

A driving licence is withdrawn immediately during a roadside check following an offence for which licence suspension is an ancillary penalty. It is also withdrawn when officers establish that the driver is using an expired licence or is driving under the influence of alcohol. Immediate withdrawal is a procedural measure and must not be confused with every points deduction or with permanent revocation.
