Vehicle combinations permitted with a BE licence
A category BE licence authorises a vehicle combination made up of a category B towing vehicle with a maximum authorised mass up to 3,500 kg and a trailer with a maximum authorised mass up to 3,500 kg, even when the combination exceeds 4,250 kg. For example, a car towing a 2,000 kg trailer in a combination with a maximum authorised mass of 4,500 kg requires category BE. Both the towing vehicle and trailer must remain within their respective limits.
