Head restraints and whiplash protection

A head restraint helps prevent whiplash by limiting the backward movement of the head in a collision, particularly when the vehicle is struck from behind. It is effective only when adjusted correctly: the upper part should be positioned close to the height of the top of the occupant's head, and the restraint should be as close to the back of the head as practicable.
