Risks associated with cyclists

Adapt speed and lateral clearance whenever cyclists are present. A bicycle may swerve because of wind, an uneven surface, loss of balance or an obstacle, and younger, inexperienced or elderly riders may be less predictable. A cyclist may also find it difficult to judge how quickly a faster motor vehicle is approaching, especially on a non-urban road.
