Emergency stopping on a motorway
If the driver or a passenger becomes unwell, or the vehicle can no longer continue safely, move to the emergency lane or another safe place where possible and stop only for as long as strictly necessary. Warn traffic, leave the live carriageway safely and request assistance. An emergency stop may not be extended into ordinary parking.
