High-visibility clothing when placing a warning triangle

Put on the approved high-visibility garment before leaving the vehicle to place or retrieve the triangle. The requirement also applies when operating on an emergency lane or in a lay-by, where fast-moving traffic remains a danger. Keep the garment accessible from inside the passenger compartment rather than stored where it can be reached only after stepping into traffic.
