Safety equipment must be secured before moving off

Before entering traffic, a motorcyclist must put on and fasten the approved helmet and switch on the dipped headlight. A car driver must fasten the seat belt before moving unless legally exempt. Before moving away, also check that the road is clear by using the mirrors and completing the observation where necessary. Helmet and seat belt must already be in use when the vehicle begins to move, not after the joining manoeuvre is complete.
