Traffic rules, manoeuvres and driving conduct

Being in the wrong approach lane at a junction

Once you are close to a junction and committed to a marked approach lane, follow the direction shown for that lane while observing priority. Do not cut across lanes at the last moment, reverse, stop abruptly or pull over to ask for directions, as these actions obstruct following traffic and can cause a collision. Continue safely and correct your route later. If priority is not immediately clear, slow down and assess the junction carefully; choosing to go straight does not permit proceeding without caution. Hazard warning lights do not make an unsafe manoeuvre lawful.
