Adapt speed to the road, visibility, traffic and weather. If a steady amber light appears when it is no longer possible to stop safely before the stop line, continue and clear the junction promptly without making a dangerous manoeuvre. Give way to pedestrians on crossings, use dipped-beam headlights in built-up areas at night and check the mirrors before operating the direction indicator to change lanes. There is no need to stop at every crossing when no pedestrian is present, to use main beam in every situation or to drive fast merely to avoid obstructing traffic.
