Adapt speed to road maintenance, cleanliness, crosswinds and glare

Poor maintenance and dirt on the carriageway can reduce grip and make the vehicle's path less predictable. Drivers must also slow down in strong side winds, especially on bridges and in high-sided vehicles, and when sun glare reduces visibility. On motorways and main non-urban roads, dense fog with visibility below 100 metres may lead to temporary maximum limits no higher than 50 km/h. Drivers do not, however, have to slow automatically for every information sign unless it describes a condition that requires it.
