Pedestrian crossing markings

The figure shows the parallel white stripes of a pedestrian crossing on the carriageway. A corresponding vertical sign may supplement the road marking. Drivers must stop and give way to pedestrians crossing or about to cross. On secondary extra-urban roads, the crossing must be preceded by the appropriate warning sign. The marking does not indicate a cycle crossing, authorised driveway or refuge island.
