Pedestrian crossings are marked by parallel white stripes

A pedestrian crossing is identified by parallel white stripes painted across the carriageway. It remains part of the carriageway, but stopping a vehicle on it is prohibited. Drivers must give way to pedestrians using the marked crossing and must approach at a speed that allows them to stop safely.
