Single carriageway with three lanes in each direction

The central separation divides the two directions of traffic but does not create two carriageways: the road shown still has a single carriageway. In each direction, the furthest right lane is normally used for ordinary driving, while the centre and left lanes are normally used for overtaking. The presence of several lanes alone does not require vehicles to travel in parallel streams.
