Factors that increase fuel consumption
Electrical devices such as the radio, lights and heated rear window place a load on the vehicle's energy system and increase fuel consumption. Consumption also rises with vehicle weight. Smooth driving at a reasonably steady speed, avoiding unnecessary loads and aerodynamic drag, helps use less fuel.
