Optional insurance cover

Policies covering theft, fire, vandalism, natural events or damage to one's own vehicle under comprehensive 'kasko' cover are not compulsory. Under theft or fire cover, compensation cannot exceed the vehicle's value when it was stolen or caught fire. If a vehicle is stolen abroad, the theft report must also be filed in Italy in order to activate the insurance procedure described in the theory questions.
