Fulfilling the civil duty to compensate collision damage
A person who is civilly liable for damage caused by a road collision fulfils the civil obligation by compensating the injured party. The liable person and injured party may agree on the value of the compensation. The liable person remains free to have their own vehicle repaired, but civil compensation and any criminal responsibility are separate matters.
