Queues and fire risk in a tunnel
When a long queue forms in a long tunnel, leave a greater distance from the vehicle ahead to reduce the risk of fire spreading rapidly between vehicles. If a fire occurs, leave the vehicle promptly and follow the signs to an emergency exit or a safe area protected by fire-resistant doors. Follow spoken instructions from tunnel staff or the fire service so that you do not evacuate in the wrong direction.
