Aquaplaning

Aquaplaning occurs when a tyre cannot disperse the water beneath it and rides on a layer of water, greatly reducing steering and braking control. It becomes more likely as speed and water depth increase and when tyre tread is badly worn. It can occur more readily in lighter vehicles. Reduce speed before deep water and avoid abrupt steering or braking if grip is lost.
