This intermittent signal may also be used inside a built-up area when needed to avert danger, and to warn the vehicle ahead of an intention to overtake. Use it briefly and responsibly: it does not grant priority or permit an otherwise unsafe manoeuvre. Its use is not limited by road type, daylight or lack of street lighting when the purpose is a legitimate warning.
