Road obstructions, stationary vehicles, motorways and roads outside built-up areas
Clearing the carriageway after a breakdown or obstruction
If it can be done safely, push or move the disabled vehicle off the carriageway. If that is impossible, place it as close as possible to the right-hand edge and warn traffic as required. The same duty applies to a fallen load or another obstruction: remove or reduce it as far as possible rather than leaving it in place unnecessarily.
