Leaving space for pedestrians when stopping

On an urban road without a raised pavement, do not place the vehicle so close to the edge that pedestrians have no route; leave at least one metre of clear space. Outside a built-up area, move off the carriageway where possible, but never use a cycle track as a stopping place. The chosen position must remain safe and lawful.
