Prohibitions and precautions near junctions

Choose the correct lane early, keep a predictable path and signal any permitted turn. Broken lines between directional lanes do not authorise weaving or a sudden last-minute change. A U-turn is also prohibited near or within a junction. At a non-urban junction, both parking and a brief voluntary stop are prohibited. Near or within a junction, do not overtake a bicycle if the manoeuvre requires entering the opposing lane. Dipped headlights are not generally prohibited, nor is there an automatic 60 km/h limit merely because a junction is present; a right turn must still be signalled. Overtaking is not prohibited at every signal-controlled junction regardless of its layout. Slow down at a flashing amber signal and apply the relevant priority rules. Outside built-up areas, the horn may be used when necessary to prevent danger.
