Lane changes are not always permitted near a junction

Near a junction, lane changes are governed by the road markings. In the figure the lane lines become continuous before the transverse stop line, so drivers may no longer cross them. The correct approach lane must be selected earlier, while the lines are still broken and a lane change can be made safely. It is therefore wrong to assume that a driver may always change lane all the way up to the stop line.
