Checks and signalling before changing lane

Use mirrors and a direct blind-spot check to ensure the target lane is clear ahead and behind, signal in good time and move only when the manoeuvre will not force another road user to alter speed or direction. When changing lane to overtake, also check that the vehicle ahead has not already signalled an intention to begin the same manoeuvre.
