Traffic rules, manoeuvres and driving conduct
Two-lane, two-way road
Each lane carries one direction of traffic. Keep to the right-hand lane for normal travel and use the lane for opposing traffic only for a lawful overtaking manoeuvre when the road markings, visibility and traffic permit it. Because the two lanes serve opposite directions, this is not a road on which traffic may proceed in parallel streams. In road-layout diagrams, identify the number of carriageways, lane directions, markings and intended manoeuvre before applying a rule.
