Adapting speed to actual conditions

Speed must not be chosen by considering only the posted maximum. It must reflect the vehicle's characteristics and mechanical condition, its load, the road's layout and surface condition, traffic and the weather. It must also comply with every applicable restriction, avoid endangering people or property and avoid disrupting traffic. The driver's subjective confidence, the tyre brand and the remaining distance to the destination are not valid criteria. The actual condition of the tyres and every other factor affecting control and stopping are relevant.
