Roadworks barrier
The horizontal red-and-white striped barrier is a temporary device used at the edge of a roadworks area to make the obstruction or closed section clearly visible. In poor visibility it may be fitted with a steady red lamp. It may also be used at a level crossing when the normal barriers are out of order. It does not identify a garage entrance, parking for works vehicles, motorway toll lanes, a dangerous bend or a cycle route.
