Traffic lights and traffic officers' signals
Traffic officer with one arm raised
The image shows a traffic officer in the centre of a junction with one arm raised. This position has the same meaning as a steady amber traffic light for all traffic streams. A driver who has not yet entered the junction must stop before it if this can be done safely. A driver already in the junction must clear it promptly. The gesture is not equivalent to a red light, does not require a stop in every circumstance, and is not reserved for vehicles intending to turn.
