Traffic officer seen side-on with arms outstretched

The image shows a traffic officer side-on with both arms outstretched. Traffic approaching from the officer's right or left, and therefore moving parallel to the outstretched arms, may pass through the junction with due care. For those traffic streams, the position has the same meaning as a green traffic light. Drivers may also turn where the manoeuvre is permitted and safe; they are not required to continue straight ahead. A driver approaching from the officer's side is not required to stop merely because the officer's arms are extended.
