Lanes with direction arrows
The figure shows three lanes separated by broken longitudinal lines and marked with direction arrows. The left lane permits straight ahead or left, the centre lane straight ahead, and the right lane straight ahead or right. The broken lane lines permit a lane change when it is safe and lawful. A driver intending to turn must nevertheless select a lane compatible with the intended direction in good time, before any continuous line begins.
