Continuous line paired with a broken line on the vehicle's side

The figure shows a continuous longitudinal line paired with a broken line. The broken line is on the depicted vehicle's side, so that driver may cross both lines for a permitted manoeuvre such as overtaking when conditions are safe. This arrangement may occur just after a bend or level crossing or on the downhill side of a hump. An oncoming vehicle may not cross because the line on its side is continuous.
