Loose chippings

This triangular warning sign shows a vehicle throwing loose stones from the road surface. It warns of loose chippings that can reduce grip and be thrown some distance by passing vehicles. Reduce speed, increase the distance from the vehicle ahead and watch for pedestrians away from the carriageway because stones can be thrown sideways. The sign does not warn of falling rocks, soft verges, mandatory snow chains or a road made impassable by roadworks.
