Mopeds: engine capacity and maximum design speed

Mopeds form a specific vehicle class. A two-wheeled moped with a combustion engine has an engine capacity not exceeding 50 cm3 and a maximum design speed not exceeding 45 km/h. The class also includes qualifying three-wheeled vehicles. Not every powered two-wheeler is a moped: vehicles outside these limits may belong to another class, such as motorcycles.
