Deteriorated exhaust silencer and noise pollution
A deteriorated exhaust silencer, or muffler, increases the noise produced by a motor vehicle and must be replaced with an approved unit suitable for that vehicle. The exhaust system carries gases outside the passenger compartment after emission-control components have reduced their harmful content.
