Open windows and fuel consumption at higher speeds
At medium to high speeds, closing the windows helps limit fuel consumption because turbulence through the passenger compartment increases aerodynamic resistance. Avoid an external roof rack when it is not needed and carry luggage inside the vehicle where possible. A thick layer of snow left on the roof also adds weight and aerodynamic drag, increasing consumption.
