Stopping, parking, traffic-imposed halts and moving off
Open vehicle doors only when it is safe
On the traffic side, check mirrors and the blind spot for approaching vehicles, cyclists and motorcycles. On the pavement side, check for pedestrians and anyone using the pavement. Open the door only as far as necessary and keep it open no longer than needed. Secure the parked vehicle with the parking brake on every gradient, not only downhill.
