Two-way carriageway with two lanes in each direction

Because each direction has more than one lane, a driver can overtake within their own half of the carriageway, including on a bend when visibility and all other conditions allow it. The inner lane is normally used for overtaking, while the continuous centre line separates opposing directions and must not be crossed. A U-turn is not permitted in the situation tested, overtaking is not freely allowed on either side, and parallel streams are not always permitted on a non-urban road. Do not begin overtaking if a vehicle behind has already started the same manoeuvre.
