Supplementary panels

Supplementary continuation and extent panels

Panel A shows opposite vertical arrows. Beneath a warning sign, it means that the hazard began before the sign and continues beyond it. Panel B shows opposite horizontal arrows and performs the equivalent function where the main sign is mounted perpendicular to the road. These arrows do not require a direction of travel, mean turn back or depict two-way traffic. They delimit the main sign's area of validity. In the associated questions, panel A expressly means continuation rather than the end of a hazard.
