First hairpin bend
The panel identifies the first tornante, a very sharp hairpin bend with a small radius, in a numbered sequence. Similar panels help drivers keep track of successive bends on a mountain route. The number 1 is the bend's position in the sequence. It does not mean that the bend is one kilometre away, indicate a roundabout, state how far it is before vehicles can turn back or count junctions already passed.
