Continuous transverse stop line

A continuous transverse line marks the point before which vehicles must stop. At a junction, a driver must stop there when directed by a traffic officer and whenever stopping is required by a STOP sign, a red traffic light or another traffic-control instruction. The line identifies the stopping position; whether stopping is required depends on the accompanying sign, signal or instruction.
