Yellow-and-black kerb markings

These yellow-and-black markings are painted on the vertical face of the kerb. They prohibit parking along that side of the road but permit a brief stop unless another rule prohibits it. They do not mark an obstruction in the centre of the carriageway, warn pedestrians of a step or reserve parking for buses. Remember the distinction between parking and a brief stop: the kerb markings impose the former restriction only.
