Double continuous centre line

This two-way carriageway is divided by a double continuous line. The lines must not be crossed and therefore do not permit a left turn across them. Overtaking is only possible when it can be completed without crossing the continuous lines. These are longitudinal markings separating opposing traffic, not a transverse STOP line. Direction and placement are decisive: centre lines run along the road, while a stop line crosses the approach lane.
