Give way

This inverted triangle requires drivers to give way to vehicles approaching from both the right and left on the intersecting road. It is used on a minor road, a link road or an acceleration lane joining another road. Slow down and stop if necessary, but a complete stop is not compulsory when the road is clearly free. When used with traffic lights, the sign applies while the lights show a flashing amber signal. The sign normally applies at the point where it is placed; on an extra-urban road, an advance GIVE WAY warning may be installed farther back. Do not confuse it with priority over other traffic or with the unconditional stop required by STOP.
