Snow chains or winter tyres required

This blue circular sign showing a wheel with a chain requires snow chains or winter tyres. Only suitably equipped vehicles may continue on a road that may be covered by snow or ice. The sign does not prohibit vehicles fitted with chains and is not a distance marker for a later requirement. Use the required winter equipment and continue with particular care; equipment does not eliminate the need to adjust speed and following distance to the conditions.
