Maximum mass per axle

This sign prohibits a vehicle when the mass on any axle exceeds the value shown. The axle-and-wheels symbol with '2.5 t' makes clear that the limit concerns actual axle load, not total vehicle mass. It may be placed before a bridge or road unable to support a higher concentrated load. A vehicle whose mass on every axle is at or below the value may pass unless another restriction applies. Do not decide from the vehicle's total mass or whether it has twin wheels; check the load borne by each axle.
