Warning signs

Steep ascent with a 10% gradient

This triangular warning sign shows an ascending slope marked 10%. It warns of a steep ascent that should be approached carefully in a suitable low gear. The percentage states the uphill gradient. The sign does not warn of a descent, does not indicate the increased braking distance associated with a dangerous descent and does not require driving with the clutch pedal depressed. For the theory test, distinguish ascent from descent by the direction of the slope shown on the sign.
